Also inside you will find rules for Legion of the Damned units, as well as three new missions, an artefact and Warlord Traits and, all unique to these legendary warriors. It includes extensive background on the mysterious Legion of the Damned, detailing the times they have appeared to fight alongside the armies of the God-Emperor. Tormented by a ghostly past and afflicted by the very power that snatches them from one battlefield to the next, the Legion are truly cursed warriors who, perhaps, seek salvation through the carnage they visit upon the enemies of the Emperor.Ĭodex: Legion of the Damned allows you to add Legion of the Damned squads into your Warhammer 40,000 army, or field them as a detachment in their own right. No one knows for sure where they come from, but none can doubt the fury with which they fight, or the trail of dead foes they leave in their wake. Some of those units do fit into competitive lists (Grinders, Oblits, Chapter Master, Battle Conclaves, Blobs), while others are more iffy.Appearing from the shifting tides of the Warp, the Legion of the Damned are mysterious bone-adorned Space Marines who arrive unlooked for to aid the servants of the Imperium. They could also be tied up by a specific tarpit unit like Zombies (60 are a lot cheaper and will hold them a long time) or an IG blob with SoB support (Priests… add in the Saint for the 2+ save to get really annoying). You can add in Coteaz for a 2nd 2+ save character or more melee damage. BTW, this unit is a really nasty counter to a lot of CC beatdown units including both Seer Council and Screamerstar… you either get 3++ rerollable with a good amount of bodies, or a single source of 2+ rerollable saves. Battle Conclave with 2 Priests added and a 2+ save character (the Saint). Meganobz (problem is losing morale, so you might need Grotsnik… who is statistically great for the squad, but the movement limitations are a pain) Also Mutilators (heh, if anyone took them) While it's not a bad CC unit, it's really not one that puts out that much damage. I think that you could do well against with most of the following units, as long as you could jam enough points into the fight to match up in points. Even in cases where the units are good enough to spam, they're usually split up so the Screamerstar gets to fight them separately for at least a turn The problem is not so much that the units don't exist, it's that unlike a Screamerstar, which is a versatile unit, you can really paint your list into a corner if you take 700-800 pts of heavy infantry units. Knight Paladin has a Rapid Fire Battle-Cannon, 2 Heavy stubbers, and a reaper chainsword”Įxactly the same kinds of units that I always say: Heavy Infantry (40k equivalent). Knight Errant has a heavy stubber, Thermal Cannon (36″ S9 lg blast melta), and a reaper chainsword (S: D) Knight Errant and Paladin have the same stat lines and are super heavy walkers with the single facing Ion Sheilds 4++, and the invincible behemoth rules. (no mention yet of Adeptus mechanicus in the White Dwarf leaks) A primary detachment of 3-6 Imperial Knights.Ĭan be fielded as Allies fielding up to three Imperial Knights as a single allied detachment for each primary detachment in your army.

“ Imperial Knights can be fielded as an army. This is all from our least favorite source but they are at least posting pictures so go figure.

Not the greatest move for game balance I am imaging but we shall see. Lots of rumors have been flying around lately and I haven’t been bothered to keep up with them however it seems Imperial Knight rules are forthcoming.
